Summer Spa Recipes to Sip
To kick off our first, Spa Recipes regular feature in Club Spa we’re giving you three to try! Enjoy the sweet taste of summer with delicious fruit beverage recipes from top spas around the country including the Pink Grapefruit Champagne Granita from Grand Wailea Resort and Spa, the “Visualize World Peach” Smoothie from the Sundara Inn & Spa and as well Assorted Smoothies from Canyon Ranch Health Resorts.
Pink Grapefruit Champagne Granita
From Grand Wailea Resort and Spa
Serves 4
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup fresh pink grapefruit juice
- 1/2 cup champagne
- Fresh mint leaves, as garnish
Procedure:
1. To make a simple syrup, combine sugar and water, boil for 1 minute, and then cool.
2. Whisk 1/4 cup of the syrup with the grapefruit juice and champagne in a shallow pan. Place the pan in the freezer. Every half hour, stir the mixture with a fork until it is semifrozen, then keep in freezer until frozen through.
3. Scrape the granita out of the pan with a fork. Serve in large martini glasses, garnished with sprigs of fresh mint.
“Visualize World Peach” Smoothie
From Sundara Inn & Spa
Serves 2
Ingredients:
- 6 ounces organic peach yogurt
- 1 c. frozen peaches
- ¾ c. freshly squeezed orange juice
- ½ banana
- 1 T. milled flaxseed
- 1 t. ginger juice
- 2-3 ice cubes

Blend until smooth.

Kiwi-Banana-Strawberry
One serving
Ingredients:
- 1 medium banana
- 1/4 cup peeled and chopped kiwi
- 1/3 cup chopped strawberries (preferably organic)
- 1/4 cup apple juice
- 1/4 cup crushed ice
Peach-Mango-Raspberry
One serving
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup chopped peaches
- 1/4 cup chopped mango
- 1/4 cup raspberries
- 1/4 cup nonfat plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup apple juice
Strawberry-Banana
One serving
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup strawberries (preferably organic)
- 1 small banana
- 1/2 cup apple juice
- 1/3 cup nonfat plain yogurt
Date-Banana
One serving
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup chopped dates
- 1/2 medium banana
- 1/3 cup nonfat plain yogurt
- 1/3 cup skim milk
- 1/4 cup crushed ice
Kumquat-Blueberry
One serving
Ingredients:
- 1 Tbsp grated kumquat peel
- 3/4 cup nonfat blueberry yogurt
- 1/4 cup blueberries
- 1/2 medium banana
- 2 Tbsp diced fresh pineapple
- 2 Tbsp apple juice
Apricot-Raspberry
One serving
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup chopped apricots
- 1/4 cup raspberries
- 1/3 cup unsweetened apple juice
- 1/4 medium banana
- 1/4 cup crushed ice
Pineapple-Coconut
One serving
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup pineapple juice
- 1/2 medium banana
- 2 Tbsp low-fat coconut milk
- 1/3 cup nonfat plain yogurt
Cherry-Blackberry
One serving
Ingredients:
- 2/3 cup sweet dark cherries
- 1/2 cup blackberries
- 1/3 cup orange juice
Procedure:
For each recipe, combine all the ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth. You can use fresh or frozen fruit. Frozen fruit yields a creamier texture; to get the same result with fresh fruit, add a quarter cup of ice. Note: If you use fresh fruit, you may want to add more orange juice.
